-
Yes. We offer telehealth sessions for clients throughout California who prefer to meet remotely. Telehealth works the same way as in-person sessions — you'll have a private, confidential video appointment with Rena at your scheduled time. It's a practical option for busy professionals, athletes with demanding travel schedules, or anyone outside the Long Beach area.
-
Rena primarily works with young adults (18+), adults, and parents. If you have questions about whether our services are the right fit for your situation, feel free to reach out and we'll be happy to talk it through.

Sports psychology focuses on the mental side of athletic performance. It helps athletes manage pre-game anxiety, stay focused under pressure, bounce back from injuries or slumps, and communicate more effectively with coaches and teammates. Many athletes are physically well-trained but find that mental blocks are holding them back. Working with a sports psychologist can close that gap.
-
We work with athletes at all levels — from high school and college competitors to adult recreational athletes and professionals. Whether you're dealing with performance anxiety, struggling to find your focus, or going through a tough stretch in your career, we can help you build the mental tools to perform at your best.
-
Yes, this is one of the most common things athletes come to us for. Pre-competition anxiety is normal, but when it starts affecting your performance or enjoyment of your sport, it's worth addressing. Rena works with athletes to understand where that anxiety is coming from and teaches practical strategies for managing it before and during competition.
-
Not at all. Sports psychology is for any athlete who wants to perform better mentally — regardless of level. High school players, weekend warriors, club athletes, and coaches all benefit from the same mental performance work that professional athletes use. Mental fitness is a skill anyone can develop.
-
Executive career counseling helps professionals work through the mental and emotional side of their careers. That might include managing workplace stress, preparing for a major career transition, improving communication with colleagues or leadership, or figuring out what you actually want in your next chapter. It's part therapy, part career strategy, and focused entirely on you.
-
This service is designed for working professionals who feel stuck, burned out, or under constant pressure. It's a good fit for people navigating difficult work relationships, considering a career change, dealing with imposter syndrome, or trying to find a better balance between their professional ambitions and personal well being.
-
Regular therapy often focuses on mental health, personal history, and emotional well being in a broad sense. Career counseling is more specifically focused on your professional life — your goals, your identity at work, your performance, and the challenges that come with high-pressure careers. That said, the two often overlap, and many of our clients find value in addressing both.
-
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a mental health benefit offered by many employers. It typically covers a set number of free therapy sessions per year for employees dealing with personal, family, or work-related challenges. If your employer offers an EAP, you may be able to access counseling at no cost to you.
-
Yes. We work with clients using EAP benefits. If your employer provides an EAP, check with your HR department or call the number on your EAP card to confirm coverage and get a referral. Then contact us at (818) 583-7269 and we'll help you get started.
-
EAP counseling can address a wide range of concerns, including workplace stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, burnout, and major life changes. These sessions are confidential and completely separate from your employer — your company does not have access to what you discuss in your sessions.
-
You can reach us by calling (818) 583-7269 or sending an email to rena@empowermentalfitness.com. You can also fill out the contact form on our website. Once we connect, we'll talk briefly about what you're looking for and schedule a time that works for you.
-
Your first session is really about getting to know each other. Rena will ask about what brought you in, what you're hoping to work on, and some background about your life and situation. There's no pressure to share everything right away. The goal is to start building a comfortable, open space where you can do real work over time.
-
Please contact us directly at (818) 583-7269 or rena@empowermentalfitness.com to ask about insurance and payment options. We can also discuss whether your EAP benefits may cover sessions.
-
